Databricks DBU rates vary by workload type, plan, cloud, region, and contract. AWS, Azure, and GCP do not necessarily use the same price for an equivalent DBU.
Representative AWS on-demand rates include about $0.15 per DBU for Jobs compute, about $0.55 for All-Purpose compute, and about $0.70 for SQL Serverless. These figures are reference points, not a universal rate card.
Classic compute adds the cloud provider's charge for virtual machines and storage. Serverless includes that infrastructure in a higher DBU rate. A DBU comparison that omits the cloud portion understates classic compute cost.
Use the account's contract and current Databricks pricing page for an invoice estimate. Multiply DBUs by the applicable rate, then add infrastructure charges when the compute type requires them.
