Snowflake Budgets monitor credit spending for an account or a defined group of supported objects and send notifications when spending is projected to exceed a limit.
The account budget monitors credit usage across the account. A custom budget can monitor a selected group of databases, schemas, tables, warehouses, or other supported objects. Per-user quotas can enforce daily or monthly limits for individual users.
Budgets require a spending limit and notification destination. Notifications can be sent by email, a cloud message service, or a webhook. A budget reports and forecasts usage; it does not replace a resource monitor's ability to stop a warehouse.
Budgets can monitor serverless features and AI services that are outside warehouse-only resource monitors. This makes them useful for an account with Snowpipe, automatic clustering, search optimization, or Cortex usage.
Review the budget against the same time period used for the invoice. A forecast can change as usage changes, so an alert is a control for investigation rather than a guarantee that spending will stop at the limit.
