Snowflake Storage Pricing: On-Demand vs. Capacity

Snowflake storage is billed on the average compressed data stored per month. The rate depends on on-demand or capacity pricing, cloud provider, and region.

On-demand storage is billed per terabyte at a rate that is often around $40 per TB per month, while capacity (pre-purchased) storage is often around $23 per TB per month. The exact rate depends on the cloud, region, and agreement.

Storage includes current table data, Time Travel, and Fail-safe. Permanent tables carry a Fail-safe period; transient and temporary tables do not. Clones share storage until data changes, after which changed data adds to the total.

Storage is usually smaller than compute for active workloads, but it grows with retention settings and change volume. Storage usage views report the average compressed bytes for the billing period. Snowflake documents data storage costs.
